Momentum continues as construction begins on the second station in HTEC’s hydrogen refueling network and HTEC moves closer to its $1M crowdfunding target
VANCOUVER, November 6, 2018 – HTEC (Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation) has hit another important milestone on its quest to unlock hydrogen’s potential to reduce climate change and urban pollution, breaking ground on the second station in the six-station network the company is building in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and Victoria. The station, located in Burnaby, is the second of three stations HTEC is developing in partnership with Shell.
Canada’s first retail hydrogen refueling station, station one in the network, opened in June and is located at a Shell station on Granville Street in Vancouver. The Burnaby station—in a new jurisdiction for HTEC—is scheduled to open in early 2019. The HTEC network will enable the deployment of the first 1,000 zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) in BC.
“Global demand for low-emission transportation is growing and we’re proud to be deploying Canadian-made hydrogen fuel supply solutions in our home markets, » says Colin Armstrong, HTEC’s President & CEO. « Working with great partners like Shell, as we deepen our industry expertise and secure funding to support growth, has turned what was once a vision into something very real: a retail hydrogen refueling network for British Columbia.”
In other company news, HTEC is currently raising money through a direct-equity campaign on crowdfunding platform, FrontFundr. This is part of strategic fundraising initiatives underway to support HTEC’s planned growth and hydrogen infrastructure build-out. HTEC is pitching the Vancouver Angel Forum, one of the oldest and largest angel gatherings in Canada, as part of its fundraising efforts.
Armstrong continues, “We’ve been really encouraged by the enthusiasm and interest from investors during our fundraising campaign. Crowdfunding and pitching to angel investors give us great opportunities to make connections with Canadians who believe in what we’re doing and want to invest in a profitable, early-stage company operating in BC’s world-leading hydrogen and fuel cell sector.”
